Welcome again to another summer of ‘Sailing Luggers In The Sun’
We are now entering springtime with the wet and cold weather behind us, so it’s time to focus and make plans for a summer of sailing adventures
After a winter of storage the covers are removed and the boats cleaned and rigged ready for launching, ready to be moored on the pontoon. For sailing groups based on the Nidri side the mooring on the Eucalyptus Pontoon or the one at the Armonia is used. It’s very convenient for access to a supermarket or the town of Nidri.

Indeed with the luxury of a land-based apartment with an air conditioned room, a private pool, bar and restaurant, and being just a short walk from the small town of Nidri, it’s a perfect base for a summer sailing adventure. With your Lugger moored on the water’s edge pontoon you have the flexibility to sail whenever you choose and in whichever direction of choose. It’s complete Freedom And Flexibility!

After an introduction to the boat, now with sails set it’s time for the crew of Paxi to have their first adventure, sailing south of the Meganissi channel. Over at the Geni Garden apartments the boats are moored at the bottom of the garden bow-to, all very convenient to depart and return after a day on the water. And one of my favourite lunchtime stopovers is to moor up at The Gialos Taverna, get some respite from the sun and have a wonderful lunch ‘Greek Style’.

Please note in the above package costs it is mentioned a ‘Starting Cost’. This is to indicate that within the package cost I give a 4 hour / half day introduction to the boat and sailing in the area. It does not include further sail tuition or instruction. This comes at an additional cost and can be discussed at the time of booking

Here you can see the convenience of coming alongside and tieing up at waters edge Tavernas. For Luggers with their shallow draft these small bays and inlets are ideal to anchor in for a swim and picnic lunch under the sun shade/Bimini.
Here’s a perfect bay quite close to Nidri for a swim and lunch stopover. Meanwhile, for experienced boat crews I have available the Genoa foresail and the batten-roached mainsails and mizen at no additional cost. It’s a great way to sail the Luggers
What a great way this is to introduce children and young adults to the sea and hands-on sailing skills. And after a day on the water it’s great to get into the shade of the Athesis pool bar for a cold and refreshing late afternoon beer. It’s a perfect end to the day.
