Is your Lugger sitting in your garden or driveway, falling into disrepair and underused for a variety of reasons? You will have thoroughly enjoyed sailing your “old friend” a few years ago, the adventures you had together, through good conditions and bad, she looked after you. Whilst now still being an interested sailor you have moved away from those cold, wet mornings of getting on board and taking off her cover for an exhilarating sail, getting back to the club house wet and cold, but well satisfied by her performance. We all have thrived on those experiences, but now with time slipping by you want to approach sailing in a more leisurely manner.
Wouldn’t your ‘Old Friend’ like to have her bottom sitting in warm water, moored on Geni Garden pontoon. For yourself, you will have a luxury apartment with air conditioning, swimming pool and outstanding situation overlooking the bay of Vliho. Geni is situated on the eastern side of Vliho Bay and is renowned for its stunning views of the mountains, lush vegetation and secluded location.
Our Villa Eleanor is a traditional villa with sunbathing area and private pool. Its interior is of a very high standard, with two double bedrooms,well appointed kitchen and all the amenities you would have at home. It has its own private pontoon 50m from the villa which is perfect for mooring your Lugger. A 10 minute walk or 5 minutes by Lugger will take you to the Gialos Taverna which serves exquisite traditional homemade food and local Greek wine. Have your evening meal, watch the sunset and gaze at your Lugger, which would be moored, very conveniently, to the jetty beside your table!
All of this is to be enjoyed at times that are convenient for you or your family to spend time again with your Old Friend. During the winter and times you are not out here in the Ionian, Dragon Drascombe will take great care of her in a secured boat yard, being cleaned and maintained with full all over cover throughout these times. Your Old Friend deserves a little love and care now she herself is getting into middle age, so why not treat yourselves and family to a ‘Drascombe Lugger’ based in the wonderful Greek Ionian.
The package of ownership/management includes the following:
- Your Lugger will be collected from anywhere in mainland UK and returned to Dragon Design, cabinetmakers and marine specialists.
- Your Lugger hull will be fully prepared and spray finished.
- All Iroko/Teak standard joinery will be refurbished.
- All new joinery, i.e. hatches, aft locker and centre board cheeks.
- The trailer will be refurbished with new bearings etc.
- The Lugger will have new signage.
- The Lugger will be SSR registered.
- A new Mariner 4HP, 4-stroke longshaft engine will be fitted along with a new fuel tank.
- All new R&J sails will be fitted.
- R&J will supply a day deck cover and full winter cover.
- A bimini type sunshade will be added along with 4 umbrellas.
- The bow anchor will have chain and warps, along with a folding kedge anchor.
- Four deck cushions will be added for your comfort along with a picnic set.
- The boat safety bottle will be kitted out with all required including chart and pilot book of the Ionian.
- Your Lugger will be delivered to Vilho on Lefkas ready for you to sail.
The 4 year contract, which includes the rebuilding of your Lugger and having it based at Vliho on Lefkas will give you the following exciting prospects for sailing in the sun:
As the owner you will have 6 weeks each summer to be able to use the Lugger, or have family and friends make use of this superb facility. Just decide on your availability for holidays and this can be managed by Dragon Drascombe.
The Lugger will be kept ashore in a secure private boat yard, fully covered, when not in use. She will be cleaned and prepared ready for your arrival, any repairs outside the normal maintenance will be looked after by ourselves at Dragon Drascombe.
For your safety and peace of mind, when you are out on your programmed visits, our Rib is in attendance if required, and you will have the full back up of our staff at Dragon Drascombe.
You will have all your transfers from Preveza airport by Dragon Drascombe provided within the Ownership package at no additional cost.
Dragon Drascombe will liaise with you on your choice of accommodation, undertake all the booking so the apartment / Villa will be ready for your visit. From the Dragon Drascombe website you can view the splendid Geni Garden and Villa Eleanor possibilities for places to stay whilst with us in the Ionian. Note: The cost of accommodation for your visits is not covered within your Lugger Ownership agreement.
If you so wish, when you are not using your Lugger, we will pay you £150 each week to use her for our Lugger charter groups, all fully insured by us and carefully managed.
It will be your responsibility to insure your Lugger, but given that it comes within our secure boat yard and management structure this cost is not likely to be more than £300 per year.
The total cost of the Lugger Ownership and Managed Programme is £18,750. If after the 4 year term you decide to move your Lugger then you are free to do so, or a continuation of the programme can be arranged.
