We had a fabulous week towards the end of June in Lefkada with Dragon Drascombe, staying at the Geni Apartments with Jojo, our Lugger for the week, moored on the pontoon at the bottom of the gardens. The Geni apartments and grounds, with swimming pool, are a superb location from which to be based and have pretty much everything one could possibly need. The taxi met us at Preveza airport & we were soon dropped at Gailos Taverna to meet up with Phil who is Dragon Drascombe. We had the first of many lovely Greek meals before driving the half a mile to Geni to settle in. Phil took us through all the necessary aspects with the Lugger, from fore and aft mooring to rigging and using the outboard engine. He made it all so simple and unhurried which does help when getting used to a new boat, but essential to pay attention! We spent the rest of the week sailing, with a fair bit of motoring, as Ionian winds are slight, and visited many coves to anchor or run ashore for swimming and relaxing. We particularly loved the little port on Meganisey, which has the old quay to moor up on (glad we paid attention to Phil’s tuition on mooring techniques) while swimming and enjoying the ever-present shore side Taverna. There were many other trips around the various islands which make the whole area so magical.
One element above all that makes the week is the organisational skill that Phil puts in. We kept in touch each day when setting out on the many suggested places to visit, but never felt ushered around. We were safe, but free to go where we wanted. The attention to detail yet the relaxing ambience we enjoyed quite simply made the holiday.
